Promising to be good and do good, with a strong focus on design and ethics, the new brand will also be available directly to consumers online. It aims to reach out to socially-minded consumers and companies, matching straight-forward social messages with quality products.
Peter Holbrook CBE CEO of Social Enterprise UK said: "The Soap Co. is a fantastic example of a new, exciting social enterprise thats offering luxury products, at a great price, with a social heart". It represents a bold move into a new market segment for charity and parent company CLARITY, founded in 1854 to provide employment opportunities for blind and disabled people, with more than 70 years experience making soap products.
Jeremy Robinson, CEO, said: "For us this is an opportunity to prove that there does not have to be a trade off between quality and social benefit. Were helping to expand the socially conscious buying market and, ultimately, to create more employment for blind or otherwise disabled or disadvantaged people who want to work, but are often not given the chance". Camilla Marcus-Dew, Launch Manager, said "The new range of products has been in development for more than a year and has outperformed other luxury brands in consumer testing".
As well in the factory the new range generating excitement in the wider Social Enterprise sector. Mike Freeman from Business in the Communitys arc programme said: "The Soap Co. is an exciting new social enterprise product, demonstrating that you can buy luxury high quality items and have a significant social impact through your spending power."
