Black Friday is the traditional day for bargains, discounts and special offers galore on your favourite brands. It is also seen as a great opportunity for a brand to tempt you into trying new products at a discounted price.
But what if there is a negative consequence to these ‘bargains’?
We decided not to follow the masses and skip on the Black Friday discounts. Let us explain why.
As a social enterprise, 100% of our profit goes back into our business. This means that with each product we sell, the profit pays for the wages of our staff. Our staff come from a variety of backgrounds, each with their own emotive story and many with personal challenges, or physical or mental disabilities. They are often at rock bottom when joining us, after having been repeatedly rejected for jobs due to their disability or complex need, many of which have been out of work for years.
As a business we strive to change the attitudes of employers and show that, just because someone has a disability or other personal challenge, this does not mean that they are unemployable. In fact, we firmly believe it is quite the opposite.
Over 80% of our workforce are blind, disabled or, disadvantaged, yet on a daily basis they achieve things that many others would not be able to do. We have people with sight loss cutting and packing soap, people who have disabilities hand mixing products, and people who have spent many years out of work and with shattered confidence leading teams and driving change.
We want to keep creating more jobs with social value and provide more training for people who don’t have the same opportunities as others. But we can’t do this without you.
We work tirelessly to spread our message, rely heavily on amazing pro-bono companies that wholeheartedly support what we do and continue to seek new innovative ways to bring products to the market that are good and do good.
To do this we need profit from our products.
To do this we need to maximise the profit we make.
To do to this we need your support.
To do this we cannot discount our products without this having an impact.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL…
We go the extra mile to bring you products crafted by our team containing the finest ingredients sourced in the UK to give your skin the maximum benefits and protection it deserves. And we do all this with minimal impact on the environment, utilising the best packaging solutions we can find. Our eco range contains bee friendly botanicals and eco-certified ingredients that aren’t harmful to aquatic life, are vegan and biodegradable, and we don’t include any nasties! We feel all of this sets us apart from our competitors bringing you a finer product that is good for your skin, good for the environment, good for everyone. We are a luxury bath and beauty company that cares: we care about social change, we care about the quality of our products and we care about the environment.
For each bottle we sell through our website, we provide 1 hour of employment and for each gift set we sell we provide 3 hours of employment. Whenever we offer discounts or special offers, this has a direct impact on our ability to do this.
It is because of all these reasons that we have decided not to offer a discount this Black Friday, and yet it is for all these reasons that we hope you can stand by us in our decision and still choose us over our discounted competitors.
We simply cannot do this without you.
